These Powerful Choices Will Help You Reach Your Goals Faster

Every single day, you make hundreds of small choices that either move you toward your goals or away from them. Most people don't even notice these choices — they're on autopilot. But the moment you start making intentional choices, everything accelerates.

After 23+ years of building businesses, here are the choices that have had the biggest impact on my success — and that I see making the biggest difference for the coaches I work with.

Choose Discomfort Over Safety

Growth lives on the other side of discomfort. Every goal worth reaching requires you to do things that scare you.

Going live on camera? Uncomfortable. Making a sales call? Uncomfortable. Raising your prices? Uncomfortable. Launching before you're ready? Uncomfortable.

The pattern is clear: every breakthrough in my business came from choosing the uncomfortable option. Not the reckless option — the uncomfortable one. The one where you know it's right but your ego is trying to protect you from potential rejection or failure.

Make discomfort a daily practice. One uncomfortable action per day. In 365 days, you'll be a completely different person with a completely different business.

Choose Focus Over More Options

The number one killer of coaching businesses isn't a lack of ideas — it's too many ideas. Shiny object syndrome is real, and it's devastating.

I've watched coaches jump from niche to niche, platform to platform, strategy to strategy — never staying long enough for anything to work. Focus on ONE offer, ONE platform, and ONE strategy for at least 90 days before changing anything.

The coaches making $10K+ months? They're doing the same 3-4 things consistently, not 15 things sporadically. Eliminating distractions is a competitive advantage in 2026.

Choose Investment Over Free

Free resources are great for getting started. But at some point, free content hits a ceiling. You need structure, accountability, and guidance from someone who's been where you're going.

Every major leap in my business came after investing in mentorship. Not free YouTube videos — paid coaching and programs where I had skin in the game.

The psychology is real: when you invest money, you show up differently. You implement faster. You take it seriously. Free advice gets filed under "maybe later." Paid guidance gets implemented NOW.

Choose Data Over Feelings

Your feelings will lie to you. "Nobody wants what I'm selling" might actually mean "I've only asked 3 people." "My content isn't working" might mean "I've been posting for 2 weeks."

Make decisions based on data, not emotions.

  • Track your content performance — what actually gets engagement?
  • Track your sales conversations — what objections come up?
  • Track your ad metrics — what's the actual cost per lead?
  • Track your customer feedback — what do they actually say?

Data removes emotion from decision-making and shows you the truth. Sometimes the truth is uncomfortable, but it's always useful.

Choose Your Circle Deliberately

You become the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. If your circle is full of people who've never built anything, their energy will cap your potential.

Actively seek out people who are 2-3 steps ahead of you. Join communities, masterminds, and programs where the baseline is higher than yours. The proximity effect is real — the voices you listen to shape your reality.

Choose Action Over Consumption

There's a fine line between learning and hiding behind learning. If you've consumed 50 hours of free content but haven't launched your offer, you're using education as procrastination.

The ratio should be 80% action, 20% learning. Not the other way around. Learn something → implement it → learn the next thing. Stop overthinking and start executing.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I stay focused when I keep seeing new opportunities?

Write down every new idea in a "future ideas" doc. Then go back to your current focus. Review the ideas list quarterly. Most of them will seem less exciting after 90 days — the good ones will still be there.

What if I make the wrong choice?

Most business choices are reversible. You can change your niche, your offer, your strategy. The only truly wrong choice is choosing nothing. Action gives you data. Inaction gives you anxiety.

How long should I stick with a strategy before changing?

Minimum 90 days of consistent execution. Most strategies need that long to generate meaningful data. If you're changing strategies monthly, you're not giving anything enough time to work.
