You have expertise that could change people's lives. But every time you think about posting that video, writing that post, or making that offer — a voice in your head says "who are you to put yourself out there?"
I've fought that voice for over two decades. And I can tell you: it never fully goes away. But you can learn to act despite it. Here's how.
What You're Really Afraid Of
It's not really about the post or the video. You're afraid of being judged, rejected, or exposed as a fraud. These fears are universal — every coach I've ever worked with has them. The ones who succeed aren't fearless. They're fear-full and still do it.
Start Smaller Than You Think
You don't need to launch with a webinar to 1,000 people. Start with a text post to your 50 friends. Then a short video to your small audience. Then a longer video. Build the muscle gradually.
Each small exposure builds evidence: "I put myself out there and I survived." Stack enough of that evidence and the fear of failure loses its power.
Make "Done" the Goal (Not "Perfect")
Perfectionism and visibility fear are siblings. "It's not ready yet" is just "I'm afraid of judgment" wearing a different outfit.
Set a rule: if it's helpful, it's ready. Post it. The 70% version that exists is infinitely more powerful than the 100% version that doesn't. Overcome perfectionism and visibility fear dissolves with it.
Remember Who You're Doing This For
When fear tries to stop me from posting, I think about the person who's stuck right now, scrolling through their feed, desperately looking for someone who can help them. If I don't show up, they don't find me.
Your fear of being judged is costing someone the help they need. That reframe — from "this is about me" to "this is about them" — is the most powerful antidote to visibility fear.
Build a Visibility Habit
Commit to showing up daily for 30 days. Not big productions — simple, helpful content. A tip. A story. An opinion. By day 30, what terrified you on day 1 will feel routine.
Inside Wealthy Coach Academy, we hold each other accountable to showing up. $197/month. Or try my $4.95 class — your first step toward putting yourself out there.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if I get negative comments when I put myself out there?
You will eventually. It means you're visible enough to matter. Block trolls, learn from constructive criticism, and keep going. Negative comments are the tax on visibility.
How do I find my confidence as a new coach?
Confidence comes from action, not from waiting until you feel confident. Start helping people for free if needed. Each positive interaction builds real, earned confidence.
What platform should I start with?
Whichever one you'll actually use consistently. For most coaches, Instagram or Facebook are good starting points because your existing network is there.
